Saving Money On Your Custom T-Shirts.

It can be difficult to find a business to print your custom tees... or is it? Budgeting is easier than you think!

Many tshirt printing firms won't spend time educating you on the system, so most potential customers simply become quoters. It's very quick to get frustrated with the quoting method, but armed with these five little tips, you're not only going to have great looking shirts, but you're also going to get under budget almost every time. Follow these steps and watch the price drop in seconds when quoting mobile, online or by phone.

Here is the list of 6  important tips to save money on a custom tshirt

  1. Print fewer Colors
  2. Increase Your Quantity
  3. Reduce the Number of Print Locations
  4. Use a White or Heather Grey Garment
  5. Be Flexible with Your Deadline
  6. Print Only One Side
  7. Use Same Design for Kids & Staf
  8. Sweatshirt Factor

 Print fewer Colors:

If choosing to print personalised t-shirts for your event or company, bear in mind that the more colours you print, the more costly the price per shirt will be. It's this easy.

Almost every logo can be changed from a full-colour digital art piece to a single-colour screen print using simple outlines or converted to greyscale.  The important thing is to know how important it is to print the project in full colour if you give it away, or if it's a one-time event. We noticed it's usually better to get grey-scale shirts than none at all to keep prices on track.

Increase Your Quantity:

Quality is king in this industry. Besides the number of print colours, there's nothing else that can shift the price per shirt like quantity. The more shirts you order, the less costly. You'd be surprised how a quote of 12 pieces can be cut by 30% by simply jumping to 24 pieces! It happens so fast, especially in smaller quantities. Experiment when quoting and you will find that you may end up with more shirts than you expected to spend on just a few bucks!

Reduce the Number of Print Locations:

ScaleDOESN't matter in screen printing.  That's right; it's all about how many places you're printing on, not how big it's. For example, if you've got a large print on the front and a large print on the back, it's the same cost as a small print on the front and a small print on the back. By simply removing the logo from one side of the shirt, you can easily shave 10%-15% off the original price!  We've also seen it where a customer wants to print on front, back and both sleeves, and they don't care about the price because they're generally under the illusion that since the sleeve prints are low, it won't be that costly.  I bet you'd be surprised to hear that sleeve prints are more difficult than full-size t-shirt printing!  When it comes to screen printing, the easier... for pricing purposes.

Use a White or Heather Grey Garment:

Save cash by switching your dark shirt to white or heather-grey.  The retailer will have these colours at a lower price point, white being the cheapest.  By changing from a dark shirt to one of these two colours, you're allowing the screen printer to save money on the garments because they're priced below their coloured counterparts.  This will normally cut output time in half if it goes from printing a light-coloured ink on a dark-coloured garment to printing a dark-coloured ink on a white or heather-grey garment.

The number one asset of each t-shirt business is their precious press time... help them save time on your job, and they should be happy to pass on the savings.

Be Flexible with Your Deadline:

All t-shirt companies have some downtime here and there. Through allowing the company you deal with to do it at their rate, they may be willing to discount the order simply through having some leniency with your deadline. Naturally, we all want the things we buy to be shipped as quickly as possible, but if it doesn't matter when you receive them, it's worth asking if there's any leeway for pricing!

Using each of these tips, watch the price per shirt slim down quickly! When you're just quoting now, watch how easily the tips above impact your pricing.

Print Only One Side:

Print just one shirt hand. You can save up to $100.00 if you order 75 shirts by printing on the shirt's front or back... but not both. The same goes for a sleeve or pocket printing! Sometimes, we will include all the details you want on one side and make it look great.  That'll make your budget look amazing!!!

Use Same Design for Kids & Staf:

Combine workers and children's shirts using the same template on colored shirts. It's my favorite way to save money. Find a single template for both staff and children. Then you can get one color for your workers and one for the children. You're actually turning two small orders into one big order. This can save you ALOT! Example: 100 kids= $5.99ea+ 50 Workers= $7.29ea, combine for one order of 150 shirts and then pay just $5.49 per shirt. Earnings: $131.60

Sweatshirt Factor:

While all our tips were well-served for both t-shirts and sweatshirts, the idea of buying more hoodies for less is incredible and requires some debate alone. Sweatshirts are always in high demand, whatever the clientele is for an event. A sweatshirt will set you back a heavy amount, but even printing twelve one-color front sweatshirts as a bulk order means you'll pay a little over $20 per piece, a lot! Screen printing sweatshirts can be a costly purchase around, so if you present event guests or your organization with their own custom design sweatshirt, they're sure to appreciate it.

As you can see, there are many different ways to make sure you get more value from Underground Printing when buying in bulk. We want to make sure you're happy while saving money on your shirts, sweatshirts, or whatever you choose to buy from us.
